Owen James Hart, the youngest of twelve children, was born May 7, 1965. Owen is the father of Oje Edward, born in 1992, and Athena born in 1995. Owen earned a scholarship in amateur wrestling during high school - where he met his future wife Martha - which took him to the University of Calgary. He was studying Physical Education when his father requested he return home to debut in Canadian Stampede Wrestling in 1986.

In 1988 Owen entered the WWF as the Blue Blazer. After leaving in 1989 to compete internationally, Owen returned in 1992 and competed under his given name. In 1994 Owen became King of the Ring, and took on the persona of The King of Harts. Owen went on to reign as Intercontinental Champion twice, Tag Team Champ three times, and European Champ. In 1997 Owen, his brother Bret, brothers-in-law Bulldog and Jim 'the Anvil' Neidhart, and Brian Pillman revived the Hart Foundation.

As supported by the candid comments of his friends in the WWF, Owen was an entertainer in and out of the ring. He was an extraordinary athlete, respected and loved by many.

A private family service was held at McInnis & Holloway's Park Memorial Chapel on Monday, May 31, 1999 at 11:00am. While the service was private fans were welcome to gather around the funeral home.
